I hate to write this for fear of embarrasement, not me but him....but he every once in awhile has an accident in bed and we've tried everything to help him. The dr says there's really nothing to do but hope he outgrows it...the upsetting part is he won't go to overnights or anything where he's not at home he is now 9 and I think there has to be something we can do to help him.
We've done the no drinks after 6pm and the go to bathroom before bed and nothing seems to help and forget about him wearing anything...I don't blame him....
Help, I really hate seeing his face when he tells his friends no to an overnighter!!!

One of my brothers friends had that problem when he was younger (after all they are 35 now :)) and his Mum told us to give him a teaspoon of honey before he went to bed and he wouldn't wet the bed. It worked, we have no idea why. The first time he stayed the night his mother didn't tell us about the honey, or warn us that he may wet the bed, mum was not impressed when he soaked the mattress, bc if she had been told she would have put a rubber sheet on the bed, Our youngest brother had only stopped using it, so we had one.
To this day we do not know if the 'cure' was physiological or psycological but in all the years he spent the night, he never again had an accident - altho I do remember Mum making a run to the store for honey a couple of times LOL
Maybe it is as simple as he was told that the honey would stop him and it gave him the confidence he needed to really stop
With our two, when they were little Tk used to rock all the time and Rick would do it sometimes (they also make this 'noise' while they do it, and we could tell who was who from the vocalisation) when rick did it we would take him to the bathroom. No more accidents. But it took us a good 6 months to figure out that that the rock meant he was uncomfortable in his sleep.

Thanks Maree, I'm gonna try the honey thing. He is getting better and they are few and far between but he is so scared to go anywhere overnight that he won't do it and a friend asked him why and Alex was to embarrased to say why.
I have noticed though that if he stay the night at Nanan's house or a cousin's house he doesn't but he's still afraid to go to a friend's house.
Hopefully this will help.

Yep... sometimes it's a structural thing kids have to grow out of. On the other hand, the honey thing is a great idea.... never heard of that! If it can give the needed confidence, how great!
Good luck!
