For the last couple of years (about 4), I have been getting HORRIBLE gas pain. I'm not talking about something that one burp or one "toot" will relieve. This almost makes me sick! It will knock me out for a whole evening at times, and I have cancelled plans because I simply can't even walk standing up straight.
The pains subsided while I was pregnant, for the most part. The only way to relieve this pain is to lay on my belly with about 3-4 pillows under my stomach. Normally an hour will do it. I have tried phazyme, and other anti gas pills. They simply don't work for me. This is something that I have never asked my dr. about, because I though he would just tell me to fart and go home. My mother says I should really get this checked out. Do you think this is something that should be checked out?
Thanks

Yep, I would check with the MD. Is this constant or is there any change in bowel or bladder habits that happen at the same time the pain does? :headscrat

Don't feel bad Liz .. I have the same problems. I keep assuming mine might have to do with scar tissue and so many recent surgeries, but I'm beginning to think I should probably have it checked out since my grandmother died of colon cancer a few years ago. Of course, I've had "stomach problems" off and on ever since I was a teen, so I'm really hoping it's just something like IBS.

I am sorry you both are having these problems. I had them too when I was still drinking and eating caffine which was followed by intense periods of :barf: and diareahha afterward. I hope it is just an allergy like I had. :hugs2:

I would definately get it checked out...you never know...it could be nothing just something in your diet.....or it could be something more serious

There is no change.

Take for instance.....we were out yesterday, had lunch (potato soup and MS mudd pie)....about 3 hours later, it started. I was cramping, and was hard to walk. Sometimes I think it may be something other than gas, but once I get a chance to lay down on my belly, it goes away.
I've tried to link it to PMS, but it doesn't matter. This is like an every other, to every 4 day thing for me. I suppose I should go get it checked.

Yep, I would go have it checked out. It could be something like IBS.... no matter what it is, there should be some treatment to help you feel better, so you can live life more fully w/o the concerns of foods you have eaten making you sick.... my DH goes through this too... I'm trying to get him to the GI doctors, too....

Good luck, LIZ!
