Kim,

I had a hysterectomy, only uterus was taken out, in Aug. I'm not seeing my GYN tomorrow but my regular dr.

My question is this:
I have been feeling really drained...and not from the holidays, this has been going on for awhile now, I mean drained!!! I don't have the energy to do anything, I am tired beyond beleif 3 hrs after getting up....my joints hurt so bad its painful to walk and my joints in my hands hurts sometimes too, it hurts to type sometimes. ( I'm gonna be 30 in May) I try to get 7-8 hrs a night but it doesn't seem to help I have to lay down when Adam does, which means the stuff I can't do when he's awake doesn't get down...
What does this sound like to you? I mean if you have any suggesrtions that I can bring up to my dr tomorrow it would be very helpful thanks....
Could having had a hysterectomy (although i have my ovaries still) cause this fatigue? My mom has that Fatigue syndrome is that genetic?

Thanks

Becky

I had a total hysterectomy several years ago and I too feel so drained and my joints ache but after awhile the pain goes away. Are you taking any hormone pills? I just recently found out that my thyroid was underactive and was placed on medication. They say that could have caused my fatigue altho Iam still fatigued so not really sure. Am thinking maybe my medication needs to be increased. Since Iam back to gaining weight :(

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner, Rebecca! (I've been on one of my marathon work sessions.... )

Hmm.... sounds like this could be a mix of things. I would just describe all of your concerns to your MD, as you have to us. He/she knows your history, so that would allow a better idea of what's really going on.

Just as a personal, off-the-record thought process, I would be looking at probably a thyroid issue. Usually when you are that profoundly tired, that is the FIRST thing they investigate. Also depression can contribute alot to fatigue. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Fibromyalgia are also considerations; however, neither are clearly defined, nor do they have a specific course of treatment. (At least that's what my MD's keep telling me!)

Good luck, Rebecca! Take care! PM me & let me know how it goes.
