Maddie started vomiting about 2:00 or so and in the past two hours has thrown up about 6-7 times..lost count. When should I call the doctor? She is not running a temp. But she is pretty pale. I gave her a little water and that came up too. :(

I don't know Meagan, but I would start to be worried she was dehydrating. Here the hospital has an emergancy hotline for parents to call for things like this. :hugs2:

If your child is dehydrated, it means she's losing too much fluid or not taking enough in, usually because of fever, overheating, vomiting, or diarrhea. Dehydration is usually easy to treat, but it can be life threatening if you don't catch it quickly. Call your doctor right away if you notice that your child:
• Has not wet any diapers for six hours or has wet fewer than eight diapers in a 24-hour period
• Has persistent dark yellow urine
• Has less energy or is less playful than usual
• Has a dry, sticky mouth and lips
• Isn't shedding any tears while crying
If your child continues to lose fluid, she could become seriously dehydrated and need intravenous fluids. If you see any of the following danger signs, get your child to an urgent care center or emergency room immediately:
• Sunken eyes
• Hands and feet that feel cold and look splotchy
• Lightheadedness, lethargy, dizziness, or delirium
I hope that this helps you Meagan
Let us know how she is

I hope she feels better soon! I would call the Dr and just see what they want you to do. My ped tells me to try even a tsp at a time.

Well after I posted this she continued to vomit...maybe at least 7 or so more times.. :( Court called the advice nurse because he was worried and really wanted to take her to the ER. She basically said what you posted Michele. Also they said 2-3 teaspoons of water once an hour for 8 hours. And no food for 24. She is one very very unhappy girl. Right now she is giving me her bottle and wanting something to drink... :( (gave her a bottle cause that was about the only way she could drink last night). Court is really mad that I did not take her into the ER last night....and we were arguing about it and everything.

She has puked 2 more times since last night so not so bad. She is really thirsty and wants to drink a lot but I am afraid to let her. She is sleeping now. I hate it when she feels bad.. :(

I am sorry you fought about it. Glad she is doing better now. I work in Med billing and if your ins is like most you have to get the ok from the ped to go to the ER for the ins to pay. I am usually the one that wants to go to the ER and Ed wants to wait it out. You did the right thing.

It'shard to know when you need to take them in and when you might be over-reacting. Calling them was probably the best thing to do. If she continues to get sick today, though, I would take her in just for my own peace of mind.

I took her in and I posted about it in rant and rave. No thanks to the doctors she is so much better and is eating her first solid food in almost 48 hours. Thank goodness!
