OK...I know I should know what I'm doing since I'm a nurse and all, but I need other opinions.
I have sharp pains in my chest. I know that sharp pain means that it's lungs not heart, but I just want to clarify that.
I haven't been coughing and I haven't got a wheeze and my chest feels clear, so I can't understand where the pain is coming from
Its only on the right side and when I breath in it's worse. The pain seems to be shooting up my neck and around the right side of my back and down my shoulder.
Please help :(

Could you have hurt yourself and not known it? :hugs2: I'm sorry you're in pain.

Could have pulled a muscle... cracked a rib...etc.... I'd have it checked out, esp. if it is still hurting! Good luck!

hmmm...I don't think I have injured myself. I had someone bickel up her legs on me at work the other night and hurt my back, but this pain only started tonight. I haven't had any seizures, so i couldn't have cracked a rib with out knowing.
I think I'll get it checked tomorrow. So long as you don't think it could be my heart. That's what was worrying me the most. But I'm a little paranoid I guess

Pleurisy?

Nope I don't have pleurisy because there is no cough. Is there such thing as Pleurodema? Maybe that's what it was Pam
I had a chest X-ray and an ECG ( I think you guys call them EKG's) and had some blood taken to check my electrolites. I have a problem absorbing potassium so they have to make sure it's not my heart causing the pain. I get the results on Thursday so I'll know then.
I'm thinking it's more likely to be musculer strain because the pain is on the right side not the left.
I'll know for sure soon I guess.

Yep.... low potassium can cause problems.
Also, a good way to check.... hold your breath for a second. Does it hurt? If so, it's probably cardiac. If not, it's either respiratory or muscular. Works the majority of the time.
Must be something in the air... I had one of my patients last night attempt to kick my butt any chance she got! Oww... my achin' back! :rude:
Good luck hon & take care!
If you need anything else from me, just pm me.... I'm going to bed now.... time to hibernate... :sleepy:

I think Genie spelled it right
I didn't have a cough either. It just really hurt bad to take deep breathes, etc. Took them forever to discover it.

Samantha had costochondritis a few months ago, It is an infection in the cartilaedge that joins the ribs to the breat bone ect. The dr said it is usually after you have had a cold. It took a while to go away and she took tylenol for it.
