I have a pimple like rash on my upper arms that I have had ever since I can remember. The closest thing I got for an explanation for it was it was caused by being a white person. When I was in the Air Force, I went to see a dermotologist for an unrelated problem and she didn't give me the time of day. She glanced at it said it would never clear up and that was it. Of course, when I asked her to remove a precancerous mole from my leg that was oddly shaped and deep purple, she said "come back when you have cancer." I insisted she remove it, so it's gone - no worries there.

Recently, my doctor has been looking at it trying to figure out what it was. When I told him that the antibotics I am on for my UTI had cleared it up, he said "oh it must be this." Now, I can't remember the name of what he said. He said it was a permnant biological infection that will clear up from time to time when I am on antibotics. It doesn't spread from where it is. It seems to get a little better in the summer time when I go sleeveless.

My question is - what is the name of this rash? And is it truely hopeless that I will ever get over it?

Wow! :faint: I've never heard of anything like that. I'm mainly a Cardiac/ICU RN, so I don't have the opportunity for much dermatological care. Let me see what I can dig up & get back to you.... Hmm... :hmm2: I'm puzzled too.... :headscrat

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about Lenora. I've had it my whole adult life too. So does my mom. It's almost like little pimples, right?
We've just always called it "chicken skin" and lived with it. :roll2:
(can you tell my family is a bunch of hillbilly's?)

Grace, what does your rash look like? Is it little bumps? Just reddened skin? DRY skin?
Becky, that is an odd spot for eczema. I was told I had ringworm, then eczema, then FINALLY saw a dermatologist, and after tests, found out if was psoriasis. BUT, it's not on my upper arm.

I've had it since I was about 9 or 10 and I hate it! I use Clearasil on it and it will go away if I use it every night. I have asked my dermotologist about it too and he was clueless.

It's like pimples. I pop them every once in awhile when they get their worst. I have scaring from them. I would love to be rid of them permnantly. It would be so nice to wear a sleeveless gown and not be embarassed.
