Ok- What in sam hill are these things and why do I have them at age 21???

Is it from standing? Is it from weight? The combination of the 2? Will they go away?

I have them on like the outer sid eof my right leg.. and just like a couple on the left outer side of my left leg!

Can I do anything about them??? Thanks Kim!!!!

Don't feel bad Robyn, I have them too. The nasty ugly things run in my family. I have an aunt who has her varicose veins stripped all the time. Besides that, I don't know if there is anything you can do about allready existing ones.

I've heard things like keeping your legs uncrossed not wearing high heels and not standing for long periods of time can help decreas your chances of getting them or more of them though.

There is also an herbal pill you can take called Venastat but I know little about it. You might want to check out there website... http://www.venastat.com/

I have them too....have had them even before dd...

A combination of weight, standing at work adn such and even pg can cause them......They are usually harmless and I think the only way to get rid of them is with laser type stuff.....although that is considered cosmetic unless you are having problems with them

:yup: Yep Robin, I have them too. It's really a combination of everything: Heredity, weight, pressure on your legs, pregnancy, inactivity, etc. It's basically when you have backflow in your veins b/c the valves can't work as well (in some vessels) to keep the blood going forward. It's common, but very annoying.

I know they used to do vein stripping... very painful. Now they are doing something with lasers and I think just recently I heard something about some sort of injections... didn't listen too closely, sorry! :(

What I do to help mine: I wear support socks - you can use support pantyhose... I don't b/c they just kill my abdomen. I try to increase my exercise & water. I rub lotion on my legs every day not only for moisture, but to help the blood return. Also, try not to cross your legs at the knees. Cross your legs at the ankles.

I don't know if any of this helps -- just some thoughts! Take care!

I have spider veins on my ankles and I am sure it is because I always rest one heel on my ankle. Then veins in various spots on my legs. Probably from weight, standing, crossing legs, etc. They don't go away that I know of. I read to keep your legs propped up when you get home to get an increase in blood flow.
