I fell down the stairs at work and landed on my ankle called my DUMB DR. and they said since I could walk on it (WITH SEVERE PAIN MIND YOU) That it is a bad sprain. I am on an anti imflamatory but my foot is still so swelled up I cant tell I have ankle bones should I call this DR back. I did this Monday afternoon. It still hurts but not as bad as it did.
HELP

Sprains do tend to look worse then a fracture but if you did this at work did you get x-rays? Workers comp should cover this make sure employer has filed a report to the ins carrier then go to the ER and have them check it and x-ray it. You should not have to pay anything for it to be done.

Ditto what Becky said!!!
A few years ago I had a hairline fracture on my ankle and it was the most horrible pain! I got xrays and all but then they said that there was not a lot that could be done. It was not bad enough for a cast even though I could hardly walk on it. I had to go without a shoe on that foot for about 2 weeks and had to try to stay off of it. My whole foot and leg almost up to my knee was totally black and blue. (I did not fall but had a big tv thrown at me.:( Long story).
I hope that you get to feeling better soon!!

 I am a total clutz and I have fallen entirely too many times to count. I slipped down our stairs when I was pregnant with Jonathan. DH was downstairs and he said all he heard was a thud. I missed like 4 stairs and went flying. I landed on my ankle, too. I could walk, but man did it hurt!!! They told me to ice it and keep it elevated and take some anti-inflamitory (Advil or something like it).

I'm really surprised that your doctor didn't want to see you, just to make sure you're OK. And everyone else is right, if it happened at work, it should be covered under worker's comp. Your boss or HR person should be able to help you out with it.

It is a severe sprain with pulled ligaments tendons. I am in an aircast until further notice. I go back to the DR in 2 weeks. This sucks since my daughters graduation. LOL anyways
