OK. I'm a little embarressed by this, but my doctor is probably tired of me calling him.

Until I got this yeast infection, I had only had one other one, and I didn't even know anything was wrong. It just came back on my pap smear, and they called in some Diflucan. So it was treated before I ever saw any noticable symptoms. This time, though... :yuck: I know that being on the 2 weeks worth of antibiotics is what probably set it off. I know the itching, etc. (sorry--:tmi: ) is normal, but are there any other things that would be normal--like a dull pain in the area of your "female organs" or anything? Or maybe I've just got a UTI on top of that. I was just wondering if I should get the Diflucan refilled or if I should check in to having a test for a UTI/kidney infection. I've only had the one yeast infection, so I'm not sure what's normal, what's related, and what's not.

Thanks!

Okay Dina.....more :tmi: here, but I have a yeast infection ALL the time, and quite often it feels like my female parts are falling out  told you :tmi: so I think what you are feeling is yeast infection related. I could be wrong, but I would try the Diflucan first before you have the UTI checked out.

Thanks, Sheila. Last night I was feeling all sore and swollen. (I don't know if it actually was or not, but I just felt uncomfortable to sit, walk, or whatever). I got some cream to go along with the Diflucan. I am going to see how that works and if it's not better over the weekend, I'll call the doctor on Monday. Everyone I've talked to seems to think it's all related, too.

Everytime I get a yeast infection I get an UTI, and when I get a UTI I get a yeast infection from the antibiotics. I would think that it's related because the bacteria from the yeast infection can cause a UTI.
Did that make since?

I get yeast infections often also and feel the same way. Though sometimes Diflucan doesn't work. I would call the doctor, have them call in another dose and then tell them what your feeling and see if they think you should come in for a UTI. More than likely they are related, but the diflucan won't do anything if you do have a UTI. I ALWAYS get a yeast infection if I am given antiobiotics!

Same here. The last few times, the doctor just gives me a script for the Diflucan and says "Fill it if you need it." because I always end up calling there for it within a few days.

:yup: It's very common to get yeast infections after taking antibiotics. I try to eat 1 container of yogurt every day that I'm on the antibiotics... it usually works pretty well... I choke down the strawberry or similar yogurt... not a big fan of it, but really worth it if no infection.

Yep, the pain, burning, itching are all related. I would push fluids, use your topical cream (helps w/burning & itching) -- if you are hurting, use a dose of Tylenol or Ibuprofen for relief. Then, in the am, call your MD & they will probably have you come in & give a urine sample to check for UTI.

Good luck! Feel better soon! :hugs2:

I have only had one and I got it from Antibotics (amoxcillen sp?). and I remember it being swollen and hurting.
