Sunday, 15 February

The Moon is in Sagittarius, the sign of the Archer, aiming his arrows of thought toward the open sky, symbolizing our need to overcome our present condition and reach for something greater. Sagittarius also represents all things that are distant, so travel falls within this sign. As such, when the Moon is here, we can find ourselves dreaming of journeys to far-off lands or even other times. And, speaking of dreams, mental Mercury aligns today with imaginative Neptune, giving wings to our thoughts of fantasy.

The Moon has entered earthy Capricorn, the sign of the sure-footed Mountain Goat. When the Moon is in Capricorn, we feel a need to tread carefully, so just like the Goat, we do not fall. This Moon encourages ambition and hard work, which certainly can fit in nicely on a Monday for many people. But Capricorn also symbolizes a tendency to take things too seriously, and this can be magnified as the Moon opposes restrictive Saturn at 9:23 am EST. By midday we can see an easing of the seriousness, but it doesn't go away entirely.

Capricorns tend to take things seriously and usually work with a plan in mind. Since the Moon is in Capricorn all day today, we can lean toward over-organization, rather than just going ahead with the task at hand. We can spend too much time and energy on the most fundamental of considerations. And with Mercury the Messenger forming an irritating aspect with expansive Jupiter, it may be difficult for us to find the right balance between what we know and what we say. It might be wise to postpone important decisions for a day or two.

(first of all I apologize for the absence of yesterday's info. I have no idea what happened to the email.)

It's the first day of a new astrological month! The Sun is now in watery Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, and magic happens in hidden realms that get us ready for the rebirth and recreation of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The Moon is in intellectual Aquarius, helping us depersonalize our feelings. This might sound bad, but can actually encourage us to accept our role in the collective, from our family and workplace to humanity, itself. We are less concerned with individual needs and more connected to global issues.

The New Moon is usually a quiet time of the lunar month, but theres exciting visionary activity behind the gentleness of todays Pisces New Moon at 4:17 am EST. This is a spirited New Moon, but one that can too easily fall into escapism or denial -- and we'll need to guard against that. This is especially true now, as Venus forms a supportive sextile aspect with Pisces' own planet, spacey Neptune. The attraction toward beautiful fantasies is quite compelling. Don't be tricked by your own self-created illusions -- even if they seem so perfect.

The Moon is in Pisces, representing our compassion for those less fortunate than us. Pisces dissolves boundaries and activates our imagination. The Sun, also in Pisces, now aligns with Uranus, the planet of sudden change, causing lightning-like flashes of awareness to ripple through our minds. Additionally, Venus -- the planet of love -- enters into an irritating aspect with expansive Jupiter. It becomes difficult to know when we've reached the threshold of excess. "Just enough" may turn out to be too much.
